Child education sponsorship
Child education sponsorship goes a long way in boosting a child’s resilience needed to meet their potential in a turbulent environment through attainment of good education and training standards.
Grapesyard runs education sponsorship for the most needy children at Kindergaten, primary, primary and technical vocation education and training (TVET) levels.
About 700 children enjoy education sponsorship program at primary, secondary and TVET levels. Majority of the past beneficiaries are in gainful employment – confident young people who have taken charge of their lives and that their families. They are peer role models for positive behavior and attitude change in their communities.
The beneficiaries are identified through a rigorous process so that the most vulnerable children can be identified for enrolment for the program. The program meets a child’s educational needs holistically – the child in school, the child at home and the child in the community. Child sponsorship components include school fees, learning materials, school uniforms, food and health, capacity and resilience building.
The organization meets the costs associated with sponsorship program so that children can be stable in school. Capacity and resilience building are done through activities such as reproductive health, self-defense and civic education sessions. Parents of the beneficiaries also receive business mentorship and most vulnerable get food rations too.
Since 2005, the program has reached over 5,000 (present and past). Among them is a medical doctor, Lawyers, five Graduate teachers, Accountants and a Nutritionist. There are many others at the lower level cadres.
